The University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business was the first North American business school to establish a campus in Hong Kong, named the Cheng Yu Tung Management Institute. It started its EMBA program in 1998 and attracts over a hundred students from Hong Kong and the Mainland China each year.
Dr. Janet De Silva, Dean of Richard Ivey School of Business/Asia, the University of Western Ontario visited Toronto and spoke at the business luncheon on “China Goes Global – First Canada” organized by Hong Kong Canada Business Association (HKCBA). She said that China has been playing a vital role towards the global economic development and HK has all the favorable conditions being a part of it. Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) Director Gloria Lo in her speech said that Hong Kong, as an international financial and trade centre, shipping centre and the largest source of foreign investments for the Mainland, is an effective platform for entering into China’s market. With the full support of the Central Government under the 12th Five Year Plan, Hong Kong will continue to strengthen its roles in this regard.
