Legend of the Great Archer

To celebrate Hong Kong Ballet's 25th anniversary, Artistic Director Stephen Jefferies has created a powerful new ballet - Legend of the Great Archer - inspired by the classic Chinese folk tale.

The story about Yi, the Archer God, sent to Earth to help the Emperor extinguish the many suns scorching his land, is a broad framework for the ballet's underlying tangle of emotions. But the heat on the stage isn't just from the ten suns hovering in the sky. Jefferies' sexy full-length ballet sizzles with passion, jealousy, intrigue and murder.

The music score will be played by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra led by award-winning composer Kuan Nai-chung, and innovative multimedia effects enhance the dynamic staging.

This neo-classical ballet will be featured in the "Relaunch Hong Kong" North American Tour to cover Toronto, Vancouver, San Jose and Washington DC in May this year after its launch in Hong Kong in late March.  The Toronto performance will be the North America Premiere of this newest Hong Kong Ballet performance.

《不死傳說》

藝術總監謝傑斐與香港芭蕾舞團共渡了八年歲月，帶領舞團不斷前進。踏入舞團的二十五週年，謝氏為舞團度身訂造了一齣真情流露的感性作品。

芭蕾舞與神話永遠有著微妙的關係，謝氏的《不死傳說》就是后羿射日故事的延續。舞劇以射日的故事為基礎，鮮明地刻劃劇中人物的性格，以性感的舞步演繹錯綜複雜的情感，揭示人性的嫉妒、狡猾和仇恨，在舞台上盡情揮洒著比十個太陽更熾熱的激情！ 

音樂方面，舞團邀請了著名作曲家關廼忠作曲，還首度與香港中樂團合作，以中樂作伴奏。此外，劇中注入了多媒體元素，豐富故事情節。

這齣大型原創舞劇在香港首演後，將「重整香港經濟活力」於今年五月到北美洲作巡迴演出。香港芭蕾舞團北美洲的巡廻演出將包括多倫多，温哥華，聖何西及華盛頓四站，而多倫多的演出將是整個北美之行的首演。
