Situation report on atypical pneumonia in Hong Kong

The following is jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority:

In Hong Kong, a total of 632 patients have recovered from atypical pneumonia and have been discharged from public hospitals. Of them, 18 were discharged today (April 26). There are also 129 recovering patients who are in convalescence and preparation for discharge.

As at 1 pm today, there is an additional 17 patients confirmed to have atypical pneumonia following admission to public hospitals earlier. They include three healthcare workers (one from Caritas Medical Centre, one from Tai Po Hospital and one from Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital). The remaining 14 are other patients and contacts of patients with atypical pneumonia.

Most of the patients currently in Hong Kong hospital are showing positive responses to the new treatment protocol. One hundred and one patients are receiving treatment in intensive care unit.

Six patients died in Caritas Medical Centre (CMC), Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH), and United Christian Hospital (UCH). This brought to 121 the total number of deaths relating to atypical pneumonia.
The deceased are aged from 28 to 70 and include one woman and five men. Their information is as follows:
