Markham businesses briefed on Hong Kong' s Science Park

At a breakfast meeting held today (Thursday) in the town of Markham, which is often referred to as Toronto�s Silicon Valley, Canadian businesses were briefed on Hong Kong�s Science Park and its role as a technology smart link in China.
Speaking at the breakfast briefing, Mr Carlos Genardini, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporations (HKSTP), shared with the participants his experiences on "Building Sustainable Technology clusters in Hong Kong and Markham � Challenges and Opportunities".
Areas that Mr Genardini touched on included: how to build relationships between their company and experienced China traders and professionals; how to take advantage of the Hong Kong business platform to fast track their efforts; understand common fears of China trade and managing potential risks; discover how other Canadian companies have done it correctly and successfully; and reveal how HKSTP'�s development of sustainable technology clusters in telecommunications, electronics, precision engineering, and life sciences can link to their trade objectives.
Organized by the Markham Board of Trade, the meeting also featured a presentation on �Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta� by the Director of the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Canada, Mr Bassanio So. Mr So gave an informative update to the Canadian businesses on Hong Kong advantages, Hong Kong�s economic integration with China, an analysis on the opportunities and challenges of doing business in China and how Hong Kong and China together present a winning combination for the overseas companies, including Canadians.
