First Ottawa Visit for Hong Kong’s Secretary for Security

The Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr. Ambrose Lee, today (February 23) paid his first official visit to Ottawa since he took up his post last August.
During his brief visit, Mr. Lee met with his counterparts in the law enforcement agencies in the Canadian federal government, including Commissioner Zaccardelli of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, President Alain Jolicoeur of the Canadian Border Security Agency, and Deputy Minister Michel Dorais of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Updating his Canadian counterparts on the latest security situation of Hong Kong, Secretary Lee took the opportunity of the meetings to discuss and exchange views on subjects of mutual interest.
Ottawa is the last leg of his duty visit to United States and Canada. He will depart Ottawa for Hong Kong tomorrow (Feb. 24).
Before his Ottawa stop, Secretary Lee visited San Francisco and Washington to meet officials from the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
