Hong Kong Ballet Arrives Toronto to Relaunch Hong Kong
May 4, 2004 The 80-member Hong Kong Ballet arrived Toronto today (May 4) to start their North America tour of Legend of the Great Archer to relaunch Hong Kong and promote closer cultural ties between the two cities.
The Ballet, led by its Executive Chief Officer, Helen Ng and Artistic Director, Stephen Jefferies, would present to the Toronto community the world�s first full-length ballet repertoire to be accompanied by Chinese music created by award-winning composer Kuan Nai-chung and played by the world-renowned Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.
Organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada) and the Leisure and Culture Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the North America premiere of Legend of the Great Archer will be jointly presented with the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in support of the Renaissance ROM�s China Initiative.
