Senior Hong Kong official to visit Toronto to promote business and investment opportunities

The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, will have a stop-over in Toronto to promote business and investment opportunities in Hong Kong before attending the 16th Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation to be held in Santiago, Chile, later this month.
Mr Tsang will leave Hong Kong for Toronto tomorrow (November 13). During his stay in Toronto, he will deliver a keynote speech on "Hong Kong - New Era, New Opportunities" at a luncheon hosted by the Toronto Board of Trade in association with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Invest HK, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association. At the luncheon, Mr Tsang will give an update to Canadian business leaders on the economic outlook of Hong Kong, including the latest development of CEPA as well as the role of Hong Kong as a platform for Canadian investors planning to do business with the Mainland. He will also attend a seminar organized by the C.D. Howe Institute and host a reception for local Chinese community leaders.
While in Toronto, Mr Tsang will also meet with a group of local Chinese students from six universities in south Ontario. At the gathering, to be held at the University of Toronto, Mr Tsang will discuss with the students their career opportunities in Hong Kong in view of the latest economic development of the city.
Mr Tsang will leave for Santiago Monday (November 15) night to attend the APEC Meeting. During the meeting, the APEC Ministers will discuss issues of importance to our communities, and in particular trade issues.
