Press Release - February 18, 2003
Following its successful launch in Calgary last Friday, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada) (HKETO) will take the Building a Dynamic Hong Kong photo exhibition to Edmonton at the end of this month. This is part of HKETOs promotional program in Alberta, which is jointly presented by HKETO and the Fairchild Media Group.
Announcing this today (February 18), the Director of the HKETO, Mrs. Rosanna Ure, said that the promotion will be a two-week event aiming at strengthening the economic and business ties between Hong Kong and Edmonton and informing the Edmonton business community of the business opportunities available in Hong Kong.
The event, which will take place at the Edmonton City Centre from February 28 to March 13, will start with a business seminar co-organized by the HKETO, the Alberta Ministry of Economic Development and the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association in Edmonton.
To be held on February 28 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Mackenzie and Champlain Rooms of the Delta Edmonton Centre Suite Hotel, the business seminar will discuss A New Area of Growth for Canadian Business in Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta. The Director of the HKETO, Mrs. Rosanna Ure and the Deputy Minister of Alberta Ministry of Economic Development, Mr. Barry Mehr will join other guest speakers from the private sectors to share with participants their insight and perspectives on the huge potential for a stronger Canadian business presence in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta region.
An opening ceremony to launch the Building a Dynamic Hong Kong photo exhibition will take place at the main level west of the Edmonton City Centre from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
The large-scale Building a Dynamic Hong Kong photo exhibition will showcase the citys major infrastructure achievements in the past five years including such world-renowned projects as the Hong Kong International Airport, the Tsing Ma Bridge and the new extension of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It will also offer an overview of Hong Kongs exciting infrastructure plans for the next decade, which represents a total investment of CAD$120 billion on some 1,600 projects.
