Welcoming Mr Dickson's appointment, Hong Kongs Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, said that the breadth and depth of Mr Dickson's experience and expertise, both in the public and private sectors, made him an ideal candidate for the GCIO job. "I am sure Mr Dickson will inject new impetus into the IT and e-government development in Hong Kong," Mr Tsang said.

Commenting on Mr. Dicksons appointment, the Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada), Mr Bassanio So, said: The recruitment of Mr Dickson to head HKSAR Governments IT unit is a shining example that Hong Kong values foreign talents and we welcome them to bring their international perspectives to contribute to the development of Hong Kong.

Further engagements in systems executive roles included the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Guaranty Trust and Ernst & Young Management Consultants.
