Hong Kong Dragon icon much sought after in Toronto festival
Photo caption - June 25, 2005 A stylish flying dragon representing Hong Kong "Brand Hong Kong" - again became the focal point of this years Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival held today (Saturday) at Centre Island.
As the special sponsor of this popular two-day event, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada) set up a booth where face painting of the unique dragon icon was done to hundreds of holidaymakers as well as paddlers of the races. Thousands of visitors admired the flying dragon symbol when they visited the Hong Kong booth and took part in various fun-filled games. Brand Hong Kong souvenirs distributed at the booth were much sought after, reflecting that the flying dragon was very well received.
This year's event is participated by 210 teams, including those from Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia, to compete in over 100 races. The event each year attracts over 25,000 visitors and is described as one of the largest international dragon boat races organized outside Hong Kong.
One of the participating teams of the 17th Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival today (Saturday) proudly showed off the stylish hand-painted Brand Hong Kong flying dragon motif before the race.
