The
Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Ms. Maureen
Siu,
visited Halifax and Calgary respectively in September to promote
business opportunities for Canadian business in Hong Kong and in
Mainland China through the Hong Kong gateway.
She focused her discussions on the benefits arising from the
Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, a WTO-plus free-trade
agreement between Hong Kong and the Mainland China.
During her stay in Halifax, Director Siu also met with the Mayor
Peter Kelly of Halifax and discussed with him means to promote
more exchanges between Halifax and Hong Kong on cultural,
educational and business activities.
The Halifax and Calgary sections of the Hong Kong-Canada Business
Association assisted in arranging Ms. Siu’s visit. Mr. Andrew Yui,
Director (Canada) of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, also
joined the promotion trips. |
