The World Exposition 2010 will find Hong Kong in the Urban Best
Practice Area.
Entitled
"Smart Card, Smart City, Smart Life", the Hong Kong exhibit will
showcase its highly successful and popular Octopus and Smart ID
smart card systems to demonstrate the city's extensive use of
innovation to improve efficiency and promote connectivity.
The Financial Secretary, Mr. John Tsang, said that the Smart
Card system was an ideal theme for the Hong Kong pavilion,
noting that it had inspired similar applications around the
world, and that its technology has been exported to the
Netherlands and Dubai.
"The system is fast, efficient and convenient, just the way we
like things in Hong Kong," said Mr. Tsang.
The Shanghai event is scheduled for May 1 to October 31, 2010
and is expected to attract more than 70 million visitors. |
