The Chief Executive Mr Tung Chee Hwa's overseas visit schedule for 1999 is still under planning by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, and details will be announced later, according to a spokesman for the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (HKETO) in Toronto.

Referring to a report in yesterday's western Canada edition of Sing Tao Daily, the Director of HKETO, Mr Donald Tong, said overseas visit programmes by senior Hong Kong SAR Government officials this year are being planned. "Visits by senior Government officials to Canada are certainly conducive to promoting Hong Kong-Canada trade and the relationship between the two places," he said. "However, no firm travelling plans have been drawn up at this stage."

Mr Tong said the Hong Kong SAR Government will make formal announcement as and when such plans become available.
