Press Release - September 18 1998 Information Technology Mission to Canada The Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, Mr. K.C. Kwong, will lead a delegation to visit Canada between September 21 and 25. The purpose of the visit is to promote bilateral co-operation and exchange on information and communications technology under the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Information Technology (IT) signed by Hong Kong SAR and Canada in May this year. The delegation will comprise representatives from the government, including the Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Canada, Mr. Donald Tong, the IT sector, the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. They will attend the international software conference and exhibition - Softworld '98 - at St. John's, and the Hong Kong IT Seminar and Software Showcase in Toronto. Mr. Kwong will also visit Ottawa to meet the Canadian Minister of Industry, Mr. John Manley, and other senior government officials and discuss issues of common interests. Mr. Kwong will deliver keynote addresses on Hong Kong's IT development in the three cities. He will also attend meetings with the Canadian IT associations, conduct IT briefings as well as visit Canadian IT and telecommunications companies.
