The Spring Lantern Festival
The Spring Lantern (Yuen Siu) Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first month on the lunar calendar, marks the end of two-week long Chinese New Year celebration.

The traditional customs of the Spring Lantern Festival include firework displays and riddle-quiz, and of course the important lantern show, for which the occasion is also named the 'Lantern Festival'.

On the very night of the festival, people are expected to go to the streets to appreciate varying sorts of elaborate and brightly decorated lanterns, which often gives them an unforgettable evening. Kids will carry their own lanterns to participate in the showcase. Usually there is competition for the most beautiful lantern.

The Festival is also referred to as Chinese Valentine's Day because lantern markets were a favourite meeting place for young couples. Some says that youngsters celebrate the festivals with their lovers in such beautiful and romantic evening.
