Hong Kong offers a wide variety of housing options for expatriates, Depending on your lifestyle and budget, there are apartments and condominiums downtown, low-rise and houses in various suburban neighborhoods in the New Territories, Southern part of Hong Kong Island, Lantau Island and the Peak that may suit you. Some hotels and property management companies also offer service apartment good for temporary accommodation before you find a permanent residence.

Compared to Canada, housing cost is higher in Hong Kong. Property consultants offer comprehensive property rental or sales services that facilitate the search for short and long-term housing.

International Schools

There are 40 international schools in Hong Kong. They offer curricula from around the world, which allows expatriate children to continue education under the system of their home countries. This includes schools that offer Canadian curricula.

Medical Care and Health Insurance

The public hospitals and clinics in Hong Kong offer quality services. Private hospitals, such as the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, the Matilda Hospital and the Canossa Hospital are also quite popular among expatriates. Finding high quality healthcare services is not a concern in Hong Kong. Some insurance companies have special packages with extended local coverage that supplement your home-country coverage. You may wish to check with your existing insurance provider before you leave. Otherwise, there is not shortage of insurance companies in Hong Kong that provide comprehensive health and life insurance.
