Situation report on atypical pneumonia in Hong Kong

The following is jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR):

In Hong Kong, a total of 363 patients have recovered from atypical pneumonia and have been discharged from public hospitals. Of them, 41 were discharged today (April 19).

As at 1 pm today, there is an additional 31 patients confirmed to have atypical pneumonia following admission to public hospitals earlier. They include two healthcare workers (both from Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital). The remaining 29 were other patients and contacts of patients with atypical pneumonia.

Most of the patients currently in hospital are showing positive responses to the new treatment protocol. One hundred and nine patients are receiving treatment in intensive care unit.

Twelve patients died in Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH), Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH), Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKO), Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) and United Christian Hospital (UCH).

This brought to 81 the total number of deaths relating to atypical pneumonia in Hong Kong. The deceased include seven men, aged from 71 to 86, who have a history of chronic diseases. The remaining are three men and two women, aged between 37 and 75. Information of the deceased is provided as below:
