Situation report on atypical pneumonia in Hong Kong

The following is jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) :

In Hong Kong, there are two new confirmed cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) today (June 6). There is no case involving healthcare workers.
The number of patients recovered and discharged from hospital continues to rise to 1350. Of them, seven were discharged today.

The number of SARS patients in intensive care unit is 23. These cases are part of the 71 cases under treatment in hospitals. Most of the patients are showing positive responses to the treatment protocol. In addition, 43 are recovering patients in convalescence and in preparation for discharge.

Two patients died in Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and Wong Tai Sin Hospital (WTSH). This brought to 286 the total number of deaths relating to SARS in Hong Kong.

The deceased were two women aged 59 and 90. Their information is as follows:
