Four Recent Hong Kong Films Featured At Reel Asian’s “Hong Kong Spotlight”

To promote the cultural and artistic exchanges between Hong Kong and Canada, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada), in collaboration with the 5th Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival, presents four new films from Hong Kong at the “Hong Kong Spotlight” on November 24 and 25.

As one of the major film production centers, the film industry in Hong Kong is one of the world’s largest and Asia’s most vibrant, with its actors and directors internationally recognized as amongst the best,” Mrs Rosanna Ure, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office said.
All films are screened at the ROM Theatre, Royal Ontario Museum. Films to be screened at the “Hong Kong Spotlight” are:
'Leaving Sorrowfully', directed by Vincent Chiu, deals with the moral fallout from the Asian financial crisis, among a group of 30-somethings. Saturday, November 24 7.00PM
'Ha Ha Shanghai' is director Christine’s Choy’s journey back to Shanghai after an absence of eight years. She sees and experiences many changes, some within herself. Saturday, November 24 9:00 PM
'A Small Miracle' by Kenneth Bi, is the story of Ah Man, who must decide whether to turn over the package of drugs, mysteriously sent to him, or sell them and make a fortune. He makes a choice – and his life gets better…before it gets worse. Sunday, November 25 5:30PM
'Heroes in Love', is three short films about love and show us different perspectives against the Hong Kong background. Directors are Wing Shya, Nicholas Tse Ting-fung, Stephen Fung Tak-leun and GC Goo Bi. Sunday, November 25 7:30PM
“To me, these four movies are a manifestation of the energy and dynamism of the Hong Kong film industry,” Mrs Ure added. Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office’s participation in the Reel Asian Film Festival is one element of its HONG KONG ARTS FESTIVAL, to be held from November 13 to 29.
