The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, in association with the Canadian Association of Journalists, is pleased to announce the result of the Dateline Hong Kong Fellowship 2002, an annual program for Canadian journalists to acquaint themselves with Hong Kong.

The winners of the 2002 Fellowship are Tony Wong of The Toronto Star and Val�rie Dufour of Le Devoir in Montreal.

Applications were judged by three judges selected by the Canadian Association of Journalists. The judges were Roger Bird, Carleton University, Michelle MacAfee, Canadian Association of Journalists and Larraine Andrews, a fellowship winner (2001).

The two winners were selected based on the strength of their applications, which included story proposals and confirmation from supervisors that their work would be published or broadcast upon their return to Canada. Projects can concentrate on any area of life in Hong Kong, including, but not limited to business, trade, politics, infrastructure development, tourism, housing, education, culture and environment. Funding for this annual project comes from the Hong Kong SAR Government.

The two fellowship winners will travel to Hong Kong for a period of not more than 6 days, prior to March 31, 2003. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Canada will help arrange for the two fellowship winners to visit various points of interest, and meet with people of diverse views, and cultural backgrounds, such as politicians, corporate CEOs and senior government officials.
