HKETO Director Meets BC Premier

Rosanna Ure meets with Premier Gordon Campbell of British ColumbiaThe HKETO Director, Mrs Rosanna Ure, met the Premier of British Columbia and the Mayor of Vancouver during a 2-day visit to Vancouver in February.

Mrs Ure updated Premier Gordon Campbell and Deputy Minister Andrew Wilkinson on the great potential market of the Mainland and Hong Kong’s role as a pre-eminent gateway to China and as a hub for the Pearl River Delta. Mrs Ure took the opportunity to report on the success of the Hong Kong-Canada trade mission held last November, in which 16 of the 40 Canadian companies were from British Columbia.

Mrs Ure remarked that, judging from past experience, the collaboration of British Columbia and Hong Kong companies is a winning formula in tackling the fast-growing China market.

Premier Campbell commented that British Columbia, with its large Hong Kong immigrant population, is in a unique position to promote closer economic ties between Hong Kong and Canada.

In her meeting with Mayor Larry Campbell, Mrs Ure enjoyed a discussion of issues of mutual interest to Hong Kong and the City of Vancouver, with particular focus on closer co-operation between the two cities.
