<1:99 Short Film Series> Spreads Hong Kong’s Relaunch Message

At the film seminar entitled "Hong Kong: Gateway to China's 1.3 Billion Audience", co-organised by the HKETO and the 7th Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, panel speakers discussed how CEPA could benefit Canadian film companies to tap the huge film market of Mainland China through co-productions with Hong Kong film makers.

Hong Kong has emerged better, stronger and healthier after the SARS challenge. This was the message conveyed by the <1:99 Short Film Series> said Mr Bassanio So, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Canada), at the opening of the 7th Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, in late November.

According to Mr So, “The <1:99 Short Film Series> was produced to boost the spirit of Hong Kong people in the battle against SARS and demonstrate Hong Kong’s resilience and ‘never give up’ spirit. We wish to share this spirit with our Toronto friends, who have been our allies in the global fight against SARS.”

Throughout the festival, the HKETO presented a promotional photo exhibition and a seminar entitled “Hong Kong: Gateway to China’s 1.3 Billion Audience”, informing the Canadian film industry that the new Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) between the Mainland and Hong Kong presents opportunities for Canadian companies to access the huge China market through co-productions with Hong Kong partners.
