HKETO strengthens networking with Canadian government

Mr So presents a briefing on "Hong Kong as the platform to China" at a parliamentary breakfast meeting in Ottawa.

Mr Bassanio So, the Director of the HKETO, presented a briefing on “Hong Kong as the platform to China” to about 20 Canadian senators, federal ministers, and members of the federal government, as well as about 100 guests from Ottawa’s business community at a Parliamentary Hill breakfast meeting in early December.

Apart from Ottawa, Mr So also met with Canadian officials in Vancouver and Winnipeg to update them on Hong Kong’s latest economic developments. He advised them about the potential offered by Hong Kong for Canadian businesses seeking access to the vast market of Mainland China. The people he met included: Premier Gordon Campell of British Columbia; Federal Minister of Industry David Emerson; Deputy Premier of Manitoba, the Hon. Rosanne Wowchuk; the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, the Hon. John Harvard; the Minister of State (Multiculturalism), the Hon. Raymond Chan; and the Assistant Deputy MinisterArdath Paxton Mann of the Ministry of Western Economic Diversification Canada.
