The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region invites applications from Hong Kong students studying at universities in Canada for this year’s “
Administrative Service Student Summer Internship Program”.
Full time students who are permanent Hong Kong residents, possess good command of both Chinese and English, and will complete their bachelor degree or
post-graduate degree programs in the summer of 2006 are eligible to apply. The deadline for application is April 25.
With an aim to enable overseas Hong Kong students to better understand the operation of the Hong Kong SAR Government, and in particular, its Administrative
Service, the program would give the participants hands-on experience within the government environment, which would help them better equipped if they want to
pursue a career in the Administrative Service of the government upon graduation.
Students participating in the program will be exposed to duties similar in nature to the duties of Administrative Officers in assigned posts in Government bureaux or
departments. In addition, students would have an opportunity to visit various government offices and relevant public organizations.
The two-month internship program will commerce between June and August 2005. Students are required to work 44 hours per week and remuneration will be given
to selected students.
Students who wish to participate in the program are required to submit an application to the Administrative Service Division of Civil Service Bureau (at Room 1017,
West Wing, Central Government Offices, 11 Ice House Street, Central, Hong Kong). Each application has to be accompanied by (a) two reference letters from the
university; and (b) two essays (one in Chinese and one in English) of no more than 300 words each on why they apply for the program and what they want to achieve from it. For
