Canadian business people looking to develop a presence in the burgeoning China market will have a great opportunity to explore the region’s tremendous potential. On April 23, the HKCBA National Canada-Hong Kong Business Forum presents “A Winning China Strategy for Canada: Hong Kong & Fujian” at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Fujian province, located in the heart of China’s most economically developed region, has strong business and trade connections throughout the Pearl River Delta – an area with a total population of 450 million and a veritable powerhouse in economic terms.
As the place where China and the world come together, Hong Kong is the ideal place for Canadian companies to launch their China strategy.
The forum offers participants presentations on such topics as “The Way and Where to Advance in China” and “How to Find Opportunities and Follow Through Successfully”. Along with advice and information from trade promotion experts at Invest Hong Kong and the Fujian Provincial Department of Foreign Trade and Economic
Cooperation (DOFTEC), business people with a wide range of experience in China will share their insights.
Senior government officials representing Canada, Hong Kong and Fujian who are expected to attend the Forum include
Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Minister of International Trade, Mr.
Ted Menzies; Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Canada, His Excellency Ambassador Shumin Lu; Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the HKSAR , Mr Frederick Ma. Guest speakers will include Vice General-Director of Fujian DOFTEC, Mr Zhang Qiu; Director-General of Invest Hong Kong, Mr Mike Rowse, Consul & Senior Trade Commissioner,
Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong, Mr Francois Rivest; President and Co-CEO of Asia Pacific Foundation, Mr Yuen Pau Woo; and senior representatives from Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and private enterprises.
Networking opportunities are built into the schedule, with a trade show site, lunch and receptions and one-on-one meetings that can be arranged in advance.
