Hong Kong Chosen as WTO Ministerial Conference Venue

Hong Kong’s Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr John Tsang, welcomed the decision of the General Council of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to hold its Sixth Ministerial Conference (MC6) in Hong Kong in December 2005.

“Hong Kong’s bid to host MC6 underlines our active and constructive participation in the WTO,” Mr Tsang said in a statement issued on August 1. He added that MC6 would be a “key milestone” in the negotiations on the Doha Development Agenda, which will be conducive to the broad and balanced development of the multilateral trade regime.
