“Brand Hong Kong” Gives Wings to Sedan Chairs

The "Brand Hong Kong" sedan chairs becomes the focus of attention at the opening procession of the 18th Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival.Three traditional sedan chairs vividly decorated with the stylish "Brand Hong Kong" flying dragon led the opening procession of the 18th Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival on the Centre Island. Organized by the Toronto Chinese Business Association (TCBA), this year's Dragon Boat Race Festival, was the largest ever held in Toronto, attracting 180 teams and over 25,000 visitors.

Sedan chairs also featured in the event’s final highlight: “The Historic Family Adventure Race.” Sponsors of the event, the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (HKETO) in Canada and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, added this new component to the Festival, a thrilling race in which four families competed in a series of intellectual and physical challenges.

The "Historic Family Adventure Race" participants are tested on their knowledge on Hong Kong by matching the designated icons with the correct tourist spots of the Asia's world city.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Assistant Director of the HKETO, Stephen Siu, said: "We hope to see the Sedan Chair Race become another popular event in Toronto after the annual Dragon Boat Festival."
