On December 7, the Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry and technology, Mr. Francis Ho, and the President of
Communications Research Centre of the Department of Industry of Canada, Dr. Veena
Rawat, met In Hong Kong to sign the renewal of a memorandum of understanding
(MOU) to further enhance co-operation in information and
communications technology (ICT).
The renewal signifies the strong connections in the ICT sector between Canada and Hong Kong. Noting that Canada was Hong Kong's first ICT MOU partner since 1998, Mr. Ho said that many collaborative activities have been organized under its auspices. These include visits, exchange forums, trade facilitation, business partnerships and student exchange programmes.
"I am confident that the synergy generated from such exchanges and
cooperation will enable us to compete more successfully in today's global arena," Mr Ho said.
