Location
Situated at the south-eastern tip of China with a total area of 1,104 km.

Population
At mid-2008, the population of Hong Kong was 6.99 million, over 90% of which are ethnic Chinese.  Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated places in the world.  The land population density as at mid-2007 stood at 6,410 persons per square kilometer.

Language
Chinese and English are the official languages. English is widely used in the Government and by the legal, professional and business sectors.

Climate
Hong Kong’s climate is sub-tropical, almost temperate for nearly half the year. Temperatures can drop below 10 degree Celsius in winter and exceed 31 degrees Celsius in summer. About 90 per cent of the rainfall occurs between April and September.

Economy
Hong Kong practices free trade. It is an international financial sector. 90% of its economy is service industry.
