Hong Kong Update Summer/Fall 2010

The Legislative Council (LegCo), Hong Kong’s parliament, approved in June this year the 2012 constitutional reform package with a two-thirds majority. Hailed as a historic milestone in Hong Kong’s democratic development since its return to China as a Special Administrative Region in 1997, LegCo managed to go through the procedures stipulated in the Basic Law to introduce the new election methods.
