WHO & CDC Lift Travel Advisory on Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, welcomed the decisions by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to lift their travel advisories on Hong Kong on May 23 and June 5, respectively.

“The announcements by the WHO and CDC reinforce the world’s confidence in Hong Kong’s ability to control the virus and limit the further spread of the disease,"said Mr Tung.

The Chief Executive took the opportunity to express his gratitude to all Hong Kong’s medical professionals and to the community at large for their concerted efforts in controlling the spread of SARS.

“We remain committed to combating the virus and safeguarding the public’s health while making Hong Kong a favoured international business centre and tourist destination,"said Mr Tung.
