In the largest independent survey of its kind, global air
travellers have again chosen Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as the
world’s best airport. This marks the third year in a row that HKIA has
soared to the top of air passengers' “best" lists.
Skytrax Research, a London-based independent supplier of research to
airlines and the business travel industry, announced the results of nearly
1.7 million nominations from around the world in June. Passengers praised
HKIA’s spacious passenger terminal, its fast and efficient ground
transportation links and its overall cleanliness.
Edward Plaisted, Chief Executive of Skytrax, congratulated the Airport
Authority (AA) Hong Kong for this “great achievement" of winning in the
face of such a difficult time for the travel industry.
AA Chief Executive Officer, Dr David J Pang, said, “This is recognition of
the excellent work of all airport staff members. In spite of keen
competition and unanticipated adversity, their devotion to provide the best
services and determination to excel continues unabated."
After HKIA, the airports named in the world’s top five were Singapore
Changi Airport, Dubai International Airport, Sydney Airport and Copenhagen
Airport.
