The Director of the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (Canada), Mr Bassanio So; and the Director (Canada) of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Mr Andrew Yui, visited eastern Canada recently to update government officials and business people there about the economic situation in Hong Kong.

The promotional trip covered Montreal, Halifax and Fredericton. Highlights of the activities included a presentation on "Services provided by Hong Kong's Trade & Investment Agencies" given to the Canada-China Workshop on Environmental Cooperation and Business Opportunities in Montreal, and a speech on “Hong Kong Advantages: Fast Tracking Your China Business" given to the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association in Halifax. As well, meetings were held with key economic development officials and business people who are interested in doing business with Hong Kong.

During their four-day visit, Mr So and Mr Yui met with Mayor Peter J. Kelly of the City of Halifax; the Premier of Nova Scotia, the Hon John Hamm; Nova Scotia’s Minister of Economic Development, the Hon Ernest Fage; the Assistant Deputy Minister of Business New Brunswick, Mr Mike McIntosh; the President of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, Mr Dan Koncz; and the Mayor of Fredericton, Mayor Brad Woodside.
