To celebrate Hong Kong as Asia’s culinary capital, a “cook off”
event presented by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO)
in Canada, and co-hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and
the Metropolitan Hotels, will be held this Friday (November 7) at
the Toronto Metropolitan Hotel’s Mandarin Ballroom.
Entitled “Celebrity Challenge — The Great Hong Kong Culinary
Cook Off”, the event will feature famous Hong Kong chef and TV
personality Chung Chow and the hotel’s chief chef Patrick Lin. The
duo will be showcasing their culinary masterpieces and cutting-edge
recipes for Chinese fusion food. Adding to the excitement will be a
Chinese cooking competition among three Toronto celebrities who
will throw down their gourmet gauntlets under the expert guidance
and humour-laden commentary of Chef Chow in this one-of-a-kind
culinary challenge.
The “cook off” will be a prelude to the annual culinary event,
“Dumplings & Dynasties: The Evolution of Modern Chinese
Cuisine”, organised by the James Beard Foundation from November 13
to 15 in New York. Chef Chow, Chef Lin and their team will take
part in the design of the event’s menu.
The Director of HKETO, Ms Maureen Siu, the HKTB’s Ms Karisa Liu,
and Corporate Director of the Metropolitan Hotels Ms Dorothy Hatt
today hosted a lunch to welcome Chef Chow, who flew in from Hong
Kong to take a leading role in the upcoming event, and thank him
for introducing Hong Kong’s latest culinary trends to Canada.
