Toronto business award winner uses Hong Kong for product development

“Hong Kong and Canada also share many core values.  We both have the common law legal system underpinned by an independent judiciary.  We both have clean and efficient governments and zero tolerance of corruption.  We have free flow of information, freedom of speech, press, assembly, etc.  Hong Kong has been rated as the freest economy in the world 15 years in a row now by the Fraser Institute and the U.S. -based Heritage Foundation.  That is why if you go to Hong Kong, you will feel at home.”  The Director of HKETO, Maureen Siu, told the guests at the award presentation ceremony of Hong Kong’s advantages.

Signing ceremony of Framework Agreement on Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation held in Beijing

The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Donald Tsang, and the Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr Huang Huahua, representing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Guangdong Provincial Government, signed the Framework Agreement on Hong Kong/Guangdong Co-operation at a signing ceremony in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. 

The Framework Agreement, which builds on years of close co-operation between Hong Kong and Guangdong, is the fruit of rapport and consensus created by the exchanges between the two places over the years. It is also a significant embodiment of the principle of “One Country, Two Systems”, bringing Hong Kong/Guangdong co-operation to new heights.

Revitalised Brand Hong Kong launched

Brand Hong Kong (BrandHK), a communications platform launched nine years ago by the Government to promote Hong Kong to the global audience, has been reviewed and revitalised with minor changes and its dragon logo taking on a more contemporary look.

The updated brand DNA, or basic elements that make up BrandHK, were announced by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at a launch ceremony today (Mar 27) at the piazza of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Hong Kong-Canada co-operation to grasp economic opportunities

China is gaining increasing influence on the global economy and it is time for Hong Kong and Canada to strengthen co-operation by collaborating and complementing each other to make the most of these opportunities, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Professor K C Chan, said in Toronto.

Speaking at a seminar on Listing and Capital Raising in Hong Kong for Mining and Natural Resources Companies”of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Convention (PDAC 2010), Professor Chan said Hong Kong could serve as the financial gateway for Canadian companies to reach the Asian market in the same way that Canada served as a gateway for Hong Kong companies to invest in the North American market.

Hong Kong Delegation to Canada to promote the New Senior Secondary Academic Structure

The Deputy Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Dr Catherine Chan, will lead a Hong Kong delegation to Vancouver and Toronto, Canada next Monday (March 1) to promote the new academic structure (NAS) and the international recognition of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) which articulates to major overseas education systems in globalising education.
