Cyberport Named “Intelligent Building of the Year”

Cyberport has won the Intelligent Building of the Year Award for its infrastructure and stunning architecture.

Hong Kong Cyberport has received the internationally acclaimed Building of the Year Award 2004 from Intelligent Community Forum. The award is given to commercial buildings that have used broadband and information systems technology to add demonstrable value in the form of advanced services and merits to its tenants.

The IT flagship of Hong Kong is being praised, not just for its state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and beautiful architecture but, more importantly, for the role model that it sets for the future connected community.

At the award presentation ceremony, Mr Mark O. Clift, Director (Campus & Project Management), who represented Cyberport, said, “Hong Kong Cyberport is a vision of the HKSAR Government to create the IT-connected community of the future.”

Chief Executive Officer, Mr Nicholas Yang, described Cyberport’s 24/7 network operations centre, the high-bandwidth fibre-optic network, as a multi-million dollar Digital Media Centre and Wireless Development Centre. “No typical real estate development would invest in value-added facilities like these,” he said. “Cyberport is a project that Hong Kong is proud of and we are thrilled to see that it is now being internationally recognized.”
