Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology Meets Vancouver Mayor

The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology of the HKSAR Government, Mr John Tsang, met with Vancouver Mayor, Larry Campbell, when the latter visited Hong Kong in April.

Mr Campbell was in Hong Kong for a five-day visit to update himself on Hong Kong and to enhance the already close ties between the two cities. 

Mr Tsang briefed Mayor Campbell on the latest trade and economic developments in Hong Kong and how Canadian investors could leverage on the excellent opportunities offered by the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), which took effect in January this year.

Mayor Campbell also met with the Secretary for Justice, Ms Elsie Leung, the Secretary for Home Affairs, Dr Patrick Ho, the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Shelley Lee, the Permanent Secretary for Financial Services and Treasure, Mr Tony Miller, the Permanent Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, Miss Sandra Lee, and senior representatives of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Canadian Consul General in Hong Kong, Mr Tony Burger, and the Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Mr David Armitage. 

Mayor Campbell took time out from his busy schedule to visit the Mass Transit Railway Corporation, the Container Terminal, Cyberport and Hong Kong’s Southern District. He also attended the launching ceremony of the Avenue of Stars.
